The Shore takes the traditional landscape and presents it with new meaning through its detailed use of pattern. Mixing the weathered beach with ornamental details, patterns intersect with the long grass from the image beneath. Created with Hahnemühle rice paper, all the materials in this artwork meet archival standards. Each pattern and shape was cut out by hand using a precision knife and represents the meticulous focus required by the art of papercutting.
