Veils 5 Original Artwork (Framed)
The artwork measures 16 x 20 inches
With the frame 17 x 21 inches
Veils 5 merges three separate layers or intricate, handcut paper. Each layer actually comes from the same image, but in one layer the image has been darkened until it's almost black, while the other layer has been lightened until it reads as white. Even while obscured by the cut pattern, the main image of a woman in blue and red anchors the piece. In this artwork each pattern and shape was cut out by hand using a precision knife and represents hours of meticulous focus. All the materials used in the artwork meet archival standards.
The frame is a classic stain of walnut, a strong wood that can handle extensive traveling or moving. The frame is thin, modern, and fits a variety of different interiors. The cut paper is firmly suspended between multiple pieces of plexi glass, allowing the cut paper to float in midair while the pattern casts slight shadows onto the portrait underneath. UV protected plexiglass rests over the artwork and prevents fading. Artwork framed by the professionals at Picture This Framing in Wakefield, Rhode Island.
This artwork has traveled across the world and been exhibited in Europe, South America, and the United States. Due to its many travels, the frame has a couple of small scratches (see final photo). Most of them are along the top of the frame and not visible when viewing the artwork on a wall. They are not noticable enough to distract from the artwork, but I want to be completely transparent about the artwork and the frame you'll receive.
