The artwork measures 16 x 20 inches / 39 x 49 cm. With the frame 17 x 21 inches / 43 x 54 cm

At the Gates 5 was made by transferring a photograph onto watercolor paper using a gel medium. The result is an organic, white texture where the ink was removed. Intricate pattern was then cut into the transferred photograph. Completing the image, the original photograph rests underneath the cut layer. All the materials used in the artwork meet archival standards.

The frame is a dark, black wood. The wood has a subtle grain that gives the frame a polished and modern feel. The top, cut layer of paper is firmly suspended between two pieces of plexi glass, allowing it suspend over the photograph below. This allows the image to float in midair while the pattern casts slight shadows onto the photograph underneath.
